With the third State of Emergency going into effect tomorrow in four of Japan's larger prefectures, the governors of the prefectures have asked for all entertainment related facilities to close, which includes many of Japan's most well-known halls and venues, and all of the major cinemas in the regions of Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Hyogo. It wasn't known if these venues would comply with the request last when the declaration was announced, but today most of the major theater chains have confirmed they will be closing from April 25 to May 11.

TOHO Cinemas, United Cinemas, SMT and Movix, 109 Cinemas, Aeon Cinemas, and Cinema Sunshine have all confirmed that they will be closing their doors until May 11. Golden Week, one of the biggest holidays for Japan, is during this time, with the cinemas losing out on most of their most profitable times of the year. Some films, such as Crayon Shin-Chan's 29th anime film, have already delayed their openings, while one of the biggest films of the Japanese year, Rurouni Kenshin: The Final Part One, opened as planned last Friday.

The Sumida Triphony Hall and Tokyo Metropolitan Theater Concert Hall, among others, confirmed that they will be closed until May 11 due to the State of Emergency. Because of this, the planned Joe Hisaishi concerts, which were scheduled for April 25 and April 27, have been canceled, including the live stream of the April 27 concert. Refunds will be announced on the website on April 27 for ticket holders around the world.
