Things are going to get a bit cheeky in the month of August, because the genius boy detective with a butt for a face is returning for a third theatrical anime film in Butt Detective the Movie: The Secret of Souffle Island (known in Japan as Eiga Oshiri Tantei - Souffle-tou no Himitsu).

 

 

Based on the popular series of children's books written and illustrated by Troll and published by POPLAR, the Butt Detective series follows the adventures of a brilliant, crime-solving detective with a butt for a face. The third film sees our hero head to Souffle Island, an island with steep cliffs and a windy climate where everyone gets around by hang-gliding. Will Butt Detective be able to crack the case?

 

 

Butt Detective: The Secret of Souffle Island is directed by Akifumi Zako and features animation production by Toei Animation. The film will be released as a double-feature along with Deep Sea Survival! (known as Shinkai no Survival in Japan) as part of the 2021 Tokyo Manga Matsuri film festival on August 13, 2021.
