The official website for Crayon Shin-chan's 29th anime film, Crayon Shin-chan Nazo Meki! Hana no Tenkasu Gakuen, announced today that the film, which was scheduled to be released tomorrow in Japan, will be postponed due to the rapidly rising cases of the coronavirus across Japan's metropolitan regions which is seeing Osaka post record amounts of cases each day. The stage for the film featuring the voice actors from the film on April 24 has also been canceled.
Trailer for the film:
Crayon Shin-chan films have been an April mainstay of the Japanese theatrical calendar ever since 1994 and the second film in the franchise. This was upended last year when the first State of Emergency was declared as the COVID-19 pandemic was starting and the 28th film in the series postponed from April 24 to September 11, 2020. It has not been revealed what release date the 29th film has moved to.
Multiple prefectural governments inside Japan, including Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo, and more, have asked the central government for another State of Emergency, the third since March 2020, especially as the Golden Week holiday approaches. The government is set to announce the State of Emergency tomorrow.
