With the editor of Spy x Family teasing us about news on Tatsuya Endo's family spy manga all weekend, the editor revealed tonight that Spy x Family had hit the milestone of 10 million copies printed (physically) and sold (digitally) of collected volumes of the digital-first series, as of the release of volume 7 on June 4 in Japan.
The cover of the seventh volume was revealed to celebrate the milestone, alongside the announcement of a special edition of volume 8.
Volume 7's cover featuring Damian:
The special edition of volume 8 of Spy x Family will be released in Japan on November 4 and feature four straps featuring new illustrations drawn by the manga creator. The limited-edition version will only be available on a pre-order basis from May 17 for 1,980 yen (US$18.11).
Spy x Family is the first series that is serialized on the digital Shonen Jump+ platform to hit the 10 million copies milestone since the platform opened, and is released in Japan every two weeks. Viz Media's Shonen Jump app is releasing the chapters in English as they're released in Japan, describing the series as such:
An action-packed comedy about a fake family that includes a spy, an assassin and a telepath!
Not one to depend on others, Twilight has his work cut out for him procuring both a wife and a child for his mission to infiltrate an elite private school. What he doesn’t know is that the wife he’s chosen is an assassin and the child he’s adopted is a telepath!
